Whitewater Kayak Award
This is the intermediate level of the British Canoeing Personal Performance award scheme.
A whitewater paddler will show fluent technique on class 1 and 2 water paddling for themselves.
They will also show group awareness and control methods in the successful completion of this award.
Applicants will be able to refine their skills and be tested throughout the two-day or three-day course. If skill sets are not up to scratch for the award an action plan will be developed for future success.
We run this award as a 2 to 3-day training with assessment course. Run in a friendly, informative and inspiring way.
The course comprises of the following areas of content:
- Venue selection, Logistics & navigation
- Equipment needs
- Getting on
- Personal skills- Communication skills & Decision making
- Paddling Skills: in Open water & on Whitewater
- Dealing with mishaps / rescuing friends.

If unsuccessful, you can be given an action plan to complete certain sections with us in the future if appropriate.
Certificate fees & facilities fees are not included in the price.

Pre-requisites
Have a level of proficiency in the award remit environment.
Confident swimmer in the award environment.
Venue
North Wales venues tbc due to conditions.
Can travel for groups (plus mileage costs).
